Swiss Phenology Day 2022 in Zürich

The Swiss Phenology Day took place on 30.06.2022 at the Zurich Forest Laboratory, which is located on the Hönggerberg. "The Zurich Forest Laboratory is an experience-oriented education and research site, it is the first forest laboratory in Switzerland. The focus is on the human-influenced forest, the "cultural forest" with various forms of forest care and management, the services of forest owners and the importance of forest services for society, always under the sign of sustainability" www.waldlabor.ch.
A tour of the forest presented the variety of activities that make up the forest laboratory. A special highlight was the arboretum, which is still being expanded: There, different oak species could be viewed in direct comparison (English oak, sessile oak, downy oak, Turkey oak and Hungarian oak). It was also very interesting to learn about the different forms of cultivation of the forest, including the historical form of cultivation as a middle forest.
